Anita Sarkeesian (Canadian-American) is an activist in the field of feminist media as well as a public speaker, and Canadian. She created Feminist Frequency which is a website which features video and posts analyzing the portrayals of females in pop media. Anita Sarkeesian a Canadian American media critic. She is the founder and director of executive for Feminist Frequency A scholarly non-profit site that examines the representation of women in pop culture narratives. Alongside working to highlight the problems surrounding the targeted and sexist attack on women and others of minority groups in the online world, she is committed to breaking the stereotypes prevalent in popular culture. Sarkeesian, who has an MA in Social and Political Thinking from York University, is a sought after public speaking. She has spoken at TEDxWomen XOXO festival and United Nations Broadband Working Group for Gender. Interested in issues concerning gender identities and feminisms from an early age she launched her website Feminist Frequency in 2009, while still a student at the university. This ambitious woman planned to create an online series on the role of gender in games but was the target of an online harassment campaign. The woman was not stopped by the assault, the fact is that it only bolstered her drive to become a media critic and feminist. She is a recipient of numerous awards for her contribution to feministism.
